Collection: Hans Huber (1898-1965)

We exclusively present the historical images of the Bavarian photographer Hans Huber , traveler and mountaineer. He lived as a passionate landscape painter, revealing the Dolomite peaks to the general public  and the Bavarian and Austrian Alps from the 1920s to the 1960s.

His images remained hidden for decades  and only in 2023 was his unpublished collection dedicated to the Dolomites published for the first time. Founder in  1920 of the publishing house "Hans Huber Alpiner Kunstverlag"  received  prizes and awards in the early 1920s in Munich (1921) and in Berchtesgaden (1924) for best mountain photographer. His annual trips to Italy armed with a glass plate view camera remain memorable, making him one of the greatest pioneers of landscape photography in Europe, the first to create a complete archive of images of the Dolomites.

His enthusiasm for photography and the mountains  it is still visible today in his images.
